Project Brief

The aim for this project was to design a website for a fictional Home Improvements company named Tileish. The purpose for the site was to expand the company’s reach and attract new clients through advertising its work & services online.

Understanding the business

Before delving into the design, I needed a better understanding of the business of home improvements, as-well as the company & customer priorities. As this was a fictional brief, there wasn’t a real client or customer. Considering this, I decided to use a needs analysis to determine what content was most important and to educate design choices. This analysis compared similiar company’s in terms of graphic design, content, and user journey.

Trust is vital for conversions

Research showed that at the core of the business was trust. Each persons home is their castle, their sanctuary, a safe comforting personal space to escape to after a long day. Before having a kitchen fitted, or home improvement made, the customer needs re-assurance that their house is in safe hands. They want to know who will be working with them, how long it will take, and how much it will cost. These elements were all considered in the design and implemented in the form of Trust pilot reviews, a documented process for services and multiple methods of contact for quotes & advice.

Conclusion

The primary aim was to increase client reach by advertising work & services online. This was achieved by using image galleries and dedicated information pages. Customers can browse a variety of products & services to get a better idea for what they want before consultation. If developed, the design should expand upon this goal as a marketing objective and utilize social media sharing to increase reach.
